Ed Cogswell (Edward Cogswell) was born on February 25, 1854 in England. He made his Major League debut on July 11, 1879 for the Boston Red Caps. In 1879, his rookie year, he hit .322 with 1 home run and 18 RBI. Cogswell played for the Boston Red Caps, Troy Trojans and Worcester Ruby Legs over the course of his 3 year career.
