Born on February 17, 1905 in Spokane, Washington, Ed Brandt (Edward Arthur Brandt) played for the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 11 year career. Brandt broke into the bigs on April 26, 1928 with the Boston Braves, and put up a 5.07 ERA in 225.1 innings pitched in 1928, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ed Brandt's best season was 1933, when he posted a 2.60 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 104 batters.
