Ed Bailey (Lonas Edgar Bailey) was born on April 15, 1931 in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on September 26, 1953 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1954, his rookie year, he hit .197 with 9 home runs and 20 RBI. Bailey played for the Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Braves and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Ed Bailey's best season was 1956, when he slugged 28 home runs, hit for a .300 average and knocked in 75 runs.
