Albert Pujols leads the majors in home runs (25), RBI (64), runs scored (50), total bases (136), slugging percentage (.791), extra-base hits (32), average with runners in scoring position (.535), and now All-Star votes as well.
With the first results of voting for this year's National League All-Star Team being released on Wednesday, Pujols owns a commanding lead over his competitors with a total of 726,854. His closest threat at first base is Met Carlos Delgado, who has 220,484.
Pujols' teammates David Eckstein and Scott Rolen lead at their respective positions as well. Eckstein leads all shortstops with 284,547, roughly 40,000 votes ahead of the resurgent Edgar Renteria (236,673), and Rolen holds about a 50,000 vote advantage over New York's David Wright.
The ageless Craig Biggio holds a 17,000 vote margin over Chase Utley at second base. Biggio has garnered 303,616 votes thus far, while Utley has 286,247.
At catcher, New York's Paul Lo Duca leads former Met and current Padre Mike Piazza by less than 10,000 votes (273,059 to 264,787).
In the outfield, Andruw Jones, Carlos Beltran, and Jim Edmonds lead for the starting spots. If you want to find newly christened Second Place Home Run King Barry Bonds, you'll have to travel past Ken Griffey Jr., Alfonso Soriano, Bobby Abreu, and Carlos Lee to the eighth spot. Bonds has just 210,146 votes so far.
The next voting update will be June 5 for the NL.
