Earl Torgeson (Clifford Earl Torgeson) was born on January 1, 1924 in Snohomish, Washington. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1947 for the Boston Braves. In 1947, his rookie year, he hit .281 with 16 home runs and 78 RBI. Torgeson played for the Boston Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees over the course of his 15 year career.

Most people believe that Earl Torgeson's best season was 1950, when he slugged 23 home runs, hit for a .290 average and knocked in 87 runs.
