Earl Goldsmith (Arthur Earl Goldsmith) was born on April 14, 1894 in Evansville, Indiana. After going to high school at Central (Evansville, IN), Goldsmith attended Indiana University. Goldsmith made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Evansville Crimson Giants. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Evansville Crimson Giants the entire time. Goldsmith also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Evansville Crimson Giants the entire time.

Most people believe that 1921 was Earl Goldsmith's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
