Earl Campbell (Earl Christian Campbell) was born on March 29, 1955 in Tyler, Texas. After going to high school at Tyler (TX), Campbell attended the University of Texas. Campbell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1978 with the Houston Oilers. He played for the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that 1979 was Earl Campbell's best year, as he ran for 1697 yards and ran in 19 TDs.
