ESPN misses extra point

During my daily drive home from work in my car I listen to sports radio, which in this case is an ESPN-affiliate. Even though the local radio station has its own OSU Homer programming on, during the commercials, they run something called the "ESPN Extra Point", which is nothing more than a 30 or so second commentary by one of the ESPN personalities on a news issue. There have been many people that do this, from Dan Davis to John Buccigross, and Dave Revsine. Usually a well written, sharp monologue resounds for the next couple of minutes, and is quite enjoyable.
Until today.
Jay Harris was clearly given 5 minutes to write his Extra Point script. It's either that or it's about time he got a refund back from whatever school of Journalism he went to. He spoke about the FIBA Americas Championship, and how this version of Team USA is poised to win here and in Beijing. He mentioned how they are not only star-studded, but are also living up to the expectations of completely eviscerating the whitest of the white competition, and he ended with the following line. "... and this time, the swagger will hold. And hold, rhymes with gold."
As if I smelled the creation of the nastiest French cheese, my stomach turned and I made a face that would have made the frog faces proud. Hold rhymes with gold? It's so juvenile and painful at the same time, it's hard to comprehend how I didn't slam into the median. Being so disgusted from what I just heard, I even had to call DSC to complain - and he felt my pain.
The usually reliable and solid Jay Harris took the wrong page out of Kenny Mayne's playbook. '
