E.J. Holub (Emil Joe Holub) was born on January 5, 1938 in Schulenburg, Texas. After going to high school at Lubbock (TX), Holub attended Texas Technical University. Holub made his professional debut in the AFL in 1961 with the Dallas Texans. He played in the AFL for 9 years, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Texans over the course of his 9 year AFL career.Holub also played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs the entire time.

Most people believe that 1963 was E.J. Holub's best year, as he picked off 5 passes.
