Dusty's Time to Go!

Cubs fans aren't smiling about Dusty

Guys come on, what in the world is going on in Chicago? The Cubs front office must have a special off-field relationship with manager Dusty Baker. His time is long past. It's time for him to get the boot and get the crap out of Chicago!

I have been watching the Cubs for a very long time now and I have seen a very short straw when it comes to managers. I have seen some good ones come through the clubhouse and not get a chance to show what they could do when left alone to manage. But this guy, I mean good Lord, he could mess up a Chicago deep dish in a take-n-bake pie.

Dusty has already, as you've heard before, ran Sammy out of Chicago. He has distroyed two great pitching arms in Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. He has no sense of how to handle his lineup now and his time is past. Just fire the man already.

The Cubs are in a downward spiral and need some energy injected into the lineup and rotation. Greg Maddux is just wasting his last years of a Hall of Fame career toiling in the rotation for a team that if it could score runs still can't keep the other team off the board.

And what the crap was this trade that the GM pulled off. Boy, Phil Nevin has really helped out, not! Yeah that's what we needed a .259 batting average and 9 home runs really makes up for D-Lee's absence.

Maybe there will be change on the horizon if a new owner comes in or if the front office gets some visine and gets the red out of it's eyes. From a fan's side you still have to say Go Cubs!

dusty destroyed Prior and Wood, two sure thing pitching prospects. For that he should get the axe.

Last I read the Cubs don't want to deal with an interim manager situation so they're sticking with Dusty till the end of the year. Aside from the that, is "ran Sammy out of Chicago" really an argument? Sosa couldn't find a team anywhere that wanted him. Sammy ran himself out of the league.

I don't agree. According to Sammy he had management approval when he left that ballgame early, the action that sowed up his time in Chicago. But do you hear Dusty saying that, no his version is the true and correct one, HA!

Why did they hire him to begin with? Did they own stock in toothpicks? I can't say he 'ruined' Prior and Wood, but he didn't help them much. But like I always say... Why talk Cubs when we can talk about actual baseball!!!

Sosa deserved to be gone - he was a clubhouse cancer, a cheater, a suspected steroid user, an aging star with diminshing skills, and a player who considered himself larger than the team. Running Sosa off was the only good thing Baker did while in Chicago.

Definitly agree with the Sosa thing. I am still shocked that Zambrano never got injured. He'll be gone soon enough. The only bad thing I can see coming out of this is that the cubs go on a nice run to end the season and then decide to keep Baker on. I still think Hendry needs to go.

The reason that Dusty Baker is still the Cubs manager is cuz the Tribune Co. has enough trouble financially right now, and doesn't feel like explaining to their shareholders why they're paying a man who doesn't work for the company AND a new manager who would only be there until October. The Cubs are run like a business, and nothing else.
