Born on October 1, 1894 in San Quentin, California, Duster Mails (John Walter Mails) played for the Brooklyn Superbas, Cleveland Indians and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 7 year career. Mails broke into the bigs on September 28, 1915 with the Brooklyn Superbas, and put up a 1.85 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched in 1920, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Duster Mails's best season was 1921, when he posted a 3.94 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 87 batters.
