Born on May 31, 1859 in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Dupee Shaw (Frederick Lander Shaw) played for the Detroit Wolverines, Boston Reds, Providence Grays and Washington Senators over the course of his 6 year career. Shaw broke into the bigs on June 18, 1883 with the Detroit Wolverines, and put up a 2.50 ERA in 227 innings pitched in 1883, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dupee Shaw's best season was 1884, when he posted a 2.30 ERA, won 30 games and struck out 451 batters.
