Duke Farrell (Charles Andrew Farrell) was born on August 31, 1866 in Oakdale, Massachusetts. He made his Major League debut on April 21, 1888 for the Chicago White Stockings. In 1888, his rookie year, he hit .232 with 3 home runs and 19 RBI. Farrell played for the Chicago White Stockings, Chicago Pirates, Boston Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators, New York Giants, Brooklyn Superbas and Boston Americans over the course of his 18 year career.

Most people believe that Duke Farrell's best season was 1891, when he hit for a .302 average and knocked in 110 runs.
