Dude Esterbrook (Thomas John Esterbrook) was born on June 9, 1857 in Staten Island, New York. He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1880 for the Buffalo Bisons. In 1880, his rookie year, he hit .241 with 0 home runs and 35 RBI. Esterbrook played for the Buffalo Bisons, Cleveland Spiders, New York Metropolitans, New York Gothams, Louisville Colonels, Indianapolis Hoosiers, New York Giants and Brooklyn Bridegrooms over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Dude Esterbrook's best season was 1884, when he hit for a .314 average.
