Born on July 24, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, Duane Pillette (Duane Xavier Pillette) played for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Browns, Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 8 year career. Pillette broke into the bigs on July 19, 1949 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 6.58 ERA in 80.2 innings pitched in 1950, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Duane Pillette's best season was 1952, when he posted a 3.59 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 62 batters.
