Dream Team 2008?

Vote

A preliminary roster for Team USA has been released, and yet again a number of the NBA's best players declined to participate. Among those who turned down their nation were Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'Neal, Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Jason Kidd, Tracy McGrady, Richard Hamilton, and Tayshaun Prince. Furthermore, a number of players who disappointed American basketball fans at the 2004 Olympics were not invited to return, including the 76ers' Allen Iverson and the Lakers' Lamar Odom. Shaquille O'Neal has a standing invitation to join, but has not made clear his position. The training camp roster includes 25 players:

  • Carmelo Anthony, Denver
  • Gilbert Arenas, Washington
  • Shane Battier, Memphis
  • Chauncey Billups, Detroit
  • Chris Bosh, Toronto
  • Bruce Bowen, San Antonio
  • Elton Brand, L.A. Clippers
  • Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers
  • Dwight Howard, Orlando
  • Josh Howard, Dallas
  • LeBron James, Cleveland
  • Antawn Jamison, Washington
  • Joe Johnson, Atlanta
  • Rashard Lewis, Seattle
  • Shawn Marion, Phoenix
  • Brad Miller, Sacramento
  • Chris Paul, NO/Okla. City
  • Paul Pierce, Boston
  • Michael Redd, Milwaukee
  • Luke Ridnour, Seattle
  • Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix
  • Dwyane Wade, Miami

The Americans' first competition will be the World Championships in Japan beginning August 19, 2006, though a number of players who do not go to Japan will remain on the larger Olympics roster.

the only reason why the US loses in these games is because they dont play as a team. every single player on that team just wants to be the one who gets all the recognition. no one cares about the team, and until that mentality changes, they are going to keep losing to teams who know how to play the game the right way.
