Draft Results: $100 Friday Night Freeroll

The first ever DraftMix fantasy football freeroll competition was somewhat of a success for me. I drafted a pretty decent team with the 8th overall selection, but I made a huge mistake in the 3rd round and continued the trend again in both the 4th and 5th rounds.

First of all having the 8th overall selection and Tom Brady still available was a bit of a surprise. In my opinion, Brady should’ve gone 1st overall considering he is the top QB and he has a favorable match-up on Monday Night against a 27th ranked Cincinnati pass defense. In the second round Randy Moss was available so naturally I selected him. Here’s where things went wrong and I ended up making a mistake. With the eigth pick of the third round I selected Cedric Benson against a Detroit defense that ranks 25th against the run. You may be asking…how did I make a mistake there? Here it is, several stud receivers remained on the board and I only had one out of three WR’s thus far. After I selected Benson I looked at the four teams drafting behind me and noticed that they all had 2 of 2 running back positions filled. Big mistake, Benson would’ve been there in the 4th and I could’ve stolen a quality receiver from the four owners behind me. To make matters worse in the 4th round I timed out and the system auto-drafted Marshawn Lynch. Not realizing that the system remained on  auto-draft until I unchecked the box, the fifth round auto-drafted Marques Colston for me. Besides the fact that Colston is on bye this week, I don’t like him and I would never draft him. Bernard Berrian is who I wanted but naturally he wasn’t available in the 6th so instead I grabbed TE Jason Witten. The remainder of my draft went Ronald Curry, Dallas defense, and Stephen Gostkowski.

There you have it, in the first ever DraftMix $100 freeroll I managed to make one mistake that ended up costing me about four mistakes total. I still have a pretty decent team and I should remain competitive with Brady, Moss, and Benson, but with Witten catching a touchdown last week I can’t expect too much from him and who knows what Marshawn Lynch will do against the Jets.

Oh well, today is a different day and DraftMix is holding their second ever freeroll at 9pm EST. For those who want a chance a winning free money be sure to register here 15 minutes (8:45) before the draft. Good luck and hope to see you all there.

In our draft, the 1st QB taken was in the 11th round. I took Peyton.

Considering almost every Bills running back (OJ, Thurman Thomas, Kenneth Davis, Willis McGahee) carves up the Jets defense the way Madden carves a turducken, I would think Lynch will be successful.
