Doug Sutherland (Douglas A. Sutherland) was born on April 1, 1948 in Superior, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Superior (WI), Sutherland attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Sutherland made his professional debut in the NFL in 1970 with the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that 1976 was Doug Sutherland's best year.
