Doug Roby (Douglas Fergusson Roby) was born on March 24, 1898 in Port Tobacco, Maryland. After going to high school at Holland (MI), Roby attended Phillips Community College and the University of Michigan. Roby made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Cleveland Indians. He played for the Cleveland Indians for his entire 1 year career.
