Born on September 27, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, Doug Konieczny (Douglas James Konieczny) played for the Houston Astros for his entire 4 year career. Konieczny broke into the bigs on September 11, 1973 with the Houston Astros, and put up a 4.47 ERA in 171 innings pitched in 1975, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Doug Konieczny's best season was 1975, when he posted a 4.47 ERA and struck out 89 batters.
