Born on January 7, 1952 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Doug Capilla (Douglas Edmund Capilla) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 6 year career. Capilla broke into the bigs on September 12, 1976 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 4.47 ERA in 108.2 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Doug Capilla's best season was 1977, when he posted a 4.47 ERA and struck out 75 batters.
