Born on August 22, 1949 in Defiance, Ohio, Doug Bair (Charles Douglas Bair) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays over the course of his 15 year career. Bair broke into the bigs on September 13, 1976 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.46 ERA in 83.1 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Doug Bair's best season was 1978, when he posted a 1.97 ERA, notched 28 saves and struck out 91 batters.
