Donovan McNabb vs Eli Manning comparsion

by Donnie35

Okay I am having a conversation on AIM with my friend MattB15 from this site. I start talking football about Trotter getting released and the post about Plaxico and Reggie Brown, who you would rather have. I say its a toss up and he says Plax, so I start getting into the quarterbacks and say Brown will have a better year because McNabb throws the ball a ton and he goes know Plax will because Eli has no running game. Anyway he gave me his predictions about the two

Eli Manning-3850yds 22 touchdowns and 20 interceptions

Donovan McNabb-3760 yds 25 touchdowns and 15 interceptions

Mine are :

Eli Manning 3600 yds 18 tds 19 interceptions

Donovan McNabb 3900 yds 27 tds 11 interceptions

What do you guys think?

If this were Fantasy Football and I had to choose, if I wanted a solid pick I'd go for Manning. If I wanted an exciting, risky (injuries) pick, then I'd go for McNabb. I think McNabb would be worth the risk.

McNabb for me. Manning is not oft-injured, but McNabb is more consistent and on a less run dependent team.

If anything, they're equally risky...Manning lost his best weapon, but the Giants have a good offensive skill team (I'm still not sure about the line, but I hear Diehl has played well)...

I was never convinced McNabb was injury prone (he's had freak injuries...you can't work out to make sure your ankle doesn't break!)...

I'd go McNabb, because you know he can produce...and you'll most likely have a backup, should McNabb get hurt, would will be able to outproduce Manning like numbers in the latter part of the season..

And SS...you know i'm right about that last point ; - )

What the hell, please stop... They incomparable...they different QBs...on different teams (who run different offenses), at different stages of their career, with different talents (Eli is a straight up pocket passer), with different weapons, and different issues to deal with (injuries, the media, etc)...

I was comparing numbers...he said Eli will throw for more yards and have 22 tds and 20 interceptions and I said McNabb will throw for more and throw for 27 tds and 11 interceptions. That was the comparsion I was looking for.

Without Tiki to hand the ball to Lil' Peyton is going to have to throw the ball alooot. I'm going 3700 yards and about 25 td's with around 18-20 int's for Manning. Mcnabb assuming he's healthy will throw for somewhere around 4000 yards, 28 td's and 11 int's.

As much as i would love to believe that's the case, he's gonna have to step up and prove it as an every down kinda guy.

I think Manning will get close to 30 TDs this season. The Giants will be behind in a lot of games this year and Eli will be throwing the ball a ton in the 4th quarter. Eli – 29 TDs, 19INTs

Really it doesn’t matter who’s the better quarterback. All that matters in the NFL is who has the better offensive line, and the Eagles have a great line while the Giant’s line is average with wishful thinking. I could line up a bunch of average quarterbacks that had success behind a great line, but the number of quarterback that were successful with poor lines is few and far between no matter how good that quarterback maybe.

Why do you people think that without Tiki Manning is going to have to pass the ball more? Brandon Jacons and Rueben Droughns are plenty good enough to establish a running game in the NFL. And I am a Jets fan saying this...

MetsJetsDevils is actually right the backs will be decent for the Giants but manning and there defense is why the are going to finish 3rd in the east. I am agreeing with a Mets and Devils fan and I am a Phillies and Flyers fan ehh

There is no way that Eli throws for more yards than McNabb this year. Not a chance. I'll add in that he won't be better than McNabb in any category. McNabb will throw more TDs, less INTs, have less sacks, have a higher yards per attempt, and a better QB rating.

You have to take McNabb and Plaxico in this argument. Plaxico is much more likely to have a big impact from game to game and the same is true for Mcnabb. Does anyone remember McNabb's start to last year. Pretty good. I do think Eli would make a great back up on a Roster with McNabb as your number 1.

I would take McNabb...I think he's healthy and will have the kind of year that he was having last year before he got hurt. I think Brown has a lot of upside, but he's still young and they have somewhat of a running game...Plax should have a pretty good year, I think Eli will have to throw more to play catch-up and don't know how the running game will be. I just don't feel very confident with Eli.
