Donald Dykes (Donald R. Dykes) was born on August 24, 1955 in Independence, Louisiana. After going to high school at Hammond (LA), Dykes attended Southeastern Louisiana University. Dykes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1979 with the New York Jets. He played for the New York Jets and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that 1980 was Donald Dykes's best year, as he picked off 5 passes.
