In last night's pre-season action against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers standout wide receiver Donald Driver suffered a right foot sprain of undetermined severity. When asked about the injury in the post-game press conference, Head Coach Mike McCarthy said, “"Pat (McKenzie, team doctor) didn't seem that it was that (extensive) as far as the location on the foot. He just told me it was a foot sprain. (Driver) is in good spirits. I don't have a diagnosis as far as weeks."
The loss of Driver could be catastrophic as what little offensive success Green Bay had in 2006 can be attributed to Brett Favre and Driver refusing to quit on a 1-4 team.
If Driver is to miss any time, he will probably be replaced in the line-up by rookie James Jones. Jones, from San Jose St., leads all Packer receivers this pre-season with 16 catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
UPDATE: Driver is expected to start Sept. 9 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers will conducting the more scans and watching him, but thing look relatively good.
