Born on February 23, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Don Shaw (Donald Wellington Shaw) played for the New York Mets, Montreal Expos, St. Louis Cardinals and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 5 year career. Shaw broke into the bigs on April 11, 1967 with the New York Mets, and put up a 2.98 ERA in 51.1 innings pitched in 1967, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Don Shaw's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1971, when he posted a 2.65 ERA. However, others believe that it was 1967, when he posted a 2.98 ERA.
