Don Owens (Donald Fred Owens) was born on April 3, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. After going to high school at South Side Catholic (St. Louis, MO), Owens attended the University of Southern Mississippi. Owens made his professional debut in the NFL in 1957 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1959 was Don Owens's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
