Don Highsmith (Donald Cornelius Highsmith) was born on March 12, 1948 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. After going to high school at New Brunswick (NJ), Highsmith attended Michigan State University. Highsmith made his professional debut in the NFL in 1970 with the Oakland Raiders. He played for the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that 1971 was Don Highsmith's best year, as he had 454 kick return yards.
