Born on June 30, 1931 in Weidman, Michigan, Don Gross (Donald John Gross) played for the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 6 year career. Gross broke into the bigs on July 21, 1955 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 4.14 ERA in 67.1 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Don Gross's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1957, when he posted a 4.31 ERA and struck out 73 batters. However, others believe that it was 1956, when he posted a 1.95 ERA.
