[edit] Biography

Born on April 6, 1929 in Campbellstown, Ohio, Don Elston (Donald Ray Elston) played for the Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 9 year career. Elston broke into the bigs on September 17, 1953 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 3.54 ERA in 145 innings pitched in 1957, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Don Elston's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1959, when he posted a 3.32 ERA, won 10 games, notched 13 saves and struck out 82 batters. However, others believe that it was 1958, when he posted a 2.88 ERA, notched 10 saves and struck out 84 batters.
