Don Black

Born on July 20, 1916 in Salix, Iowa, Don Black (Donald Paul Black) played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 6 year career. Black broke into the bigs on April 24, 1943 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 4.20 ERA in 208 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Don Black's best season was 1944, when he posted a 4.06 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 78 batters.
