Don't Laugh...

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Miami Dolphins. Yes, those same Dolphins that were 0-13 entering the contest. Those same Dolphins who traded their best wide receiver (Chris Chambers), lost their starting QB (Trent Green), starting RB (Ronnie Brown), and back up RB (Ricky Williams). You knew the Ravens were just going to win the game, but deep down, you felt the possibility of being the team that gave the Dolphins their first win. The latter happened.
It was a high scoring game, relative to these two teams. The offensive line was baptized by the All-Pro known as Jason Taylor. If they didn't have nightmares before the contest, the offensive line sure will have traumatizing nightmares afterwards. The growing pains of youth will continue. This young offensive line should learn from this experience and continue to gel.
The Ravens ran the ball extremely well, yet lost the football game. What gives? Should they've ran the football more? Should the Ravens have gone for the TD with the game on the line? Was it the interception thrown by Kyle Boller? Did Boller not manage the game or make enough big plays? Maybe it was just bad luck. Maybe it was the young corners who were starting. Still, only scoring 16 points against the Dolphins is terrible. The weather was fine and the Ravens still couldn't score touchdowns. Go figure!
The defense couldn't stop the passing game of Cleo Lemon. CLEO LEMON!!!! Couldn't get a pass rush at all, which gave the receivers more time to carve up David Pittman and Derrick Martin along with Cory Ivy. David Martin was burned on that game winning TD, but Ed Reed could've prevented the TD, if he didn't choose to try to make the highlight film. Reed, as usual, went for the spectacular interception, instead of just tackling the receiver and that was game over. Nobody will bring that up because Ed Reed is an All-Pro, one of the best in the game, blah, blah, blah.....
You know things are going bad when Mr. Reliable doesn't come through in the clutch. Matt Stover can get a pass though. He has always been there when called upon. And you know, he's human. Stover would make that FG 9 times out of 10. Sadly, that one time came at the inopportune time against the Dolphins.
This game was depressing.
This should make you laugh and cry, and make you want to strangle this person:
"We're going to continue to take the tack that we're going to go out and try to win every week," Coach Brian Billick said on Monday during his weekly news conference. "Kyle played very well and deserves the opportunity to continue to grow and get out of it what he might these last two weeks. Kyle, clearly, in my opinion, gives us the best chance to win the game, although we're prepared to go with Troy if that presents itself."
Yes, The Genius said that. The Genius thinks Boller will give the Ravens the best chance to win. The Genius must not notice that the playoffs are out of reach. The Genius must have been coaching blindly the last couple of years to not notice the inconsistency of Kyle Boller. The Genius actually said that out of his face. Steve Biscotti has to fire The Genius, especially if Troy Smith doesn't start the last couple of games. The Ravens need to find out what they have in Troy Smith before the draft. They have nothing to evaluate him on but a couple of minutes in a blow out against the Colts and a couple of crucial drives against the Dolphins. That's not enough. Biscotti just needs to acknowledge that the ridiculous extension given to the Genius was a mistake and just fire him.
Go Ravens! Ok, you can laugh......
I wasn't going to write this article because I couldn't believe how the game ended and it was a lost against the Dolphins of all teams. Then I read that above quote from the Genius and felt compelled to write something.
Credit to the Washington Post for the quote. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/17/AR2007121701859.html Good source for Ravens info believe or not.
