Dodgers Go Back-to-Back-to-Back

by user Pean

In the bottom of the second inning tonight, the Los Angeles Dodgers hit back-to-back-to-back home runs against New York Mets "ace" John Maine.

Here is how it went down:

  • Wilson Betemit homered to center
  • Matt Kemp homered to left
  • pitcher!?! Hong-Chih Kuo homered to right

I like how all homers went to all fields of the park. Even crazier is that the pitcher anchored the whole thing. I wonder if that has been done before? Calling Elias....

On July 13, 1963, at Cleveland, Indians players Woodie Held, Pedro Ramos, Tito Francona and Larry Brown homered consecutively off Los Angeles Angels pitcher Paul Foytack. Ramos was the Indians pitcher in the game and had homered earlier as well.

As we all likely know, on April 22, 2007, Manny Ramirez, JD Drew, Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek homered consecutively off Yankees rookie Chase Wright.

Interesting trivia, it was the second time JD Drew had been involved in four consecutive homers, having previously done so on September 18, 2006 while with the Dodgers. Terry Francona was the Red Sox manager in their four homer game this year, Tito Francona is Terry's dad.

Was that the game that Victoria Beckham threw the most stereotypically "girly" opening pitch you've ever seen in your life? Or was that the previous day?
