Doc Johnston (Wheeler Roger Johnston) was born on September 9, 1887 in Cleveland, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on October 3, 1909 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1912, his rookie year, he hit .280 with 1 home run and 11 RBI. Johnston played for the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Naps, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Doc Johnston's best season was 1915, when he stole 26 bases and knocked in 64 runs.
