Doc Casey (James Patrick Casey) was born on March 15, 1870 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He made his Major League debut on September 14, 1898 for the Washington Senators. In 1899, his rookie year, he hit .259 with 1 home run and 45 RBI. Casey played for the Washington Senators, Brooklyn Superbas, Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Doc Casey's best season was 1901, when he stole 34 bases and hit for a .283 average.
