Do You Hear the Death Rattle?

It is coming from South Philadelphia, from a place called Citizen's Bank Park. The death rattle noise is being made by the Philadelphia Phillies. Last weekend, they lost 3 of 4 to the Washington Nationals. This week, the Phillies were swept by the New York Mets in a three-game series. Tonight, the Phillies were taken to the woodshed by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, final score 11-4.
To make matters worse, the Phillies' wonder-boy pitcher, Cole Hamels, started the game. Don't worry, Hamels didn't last too long in this one, giving up 6 runs, 5 earned in less than 4 innings.
The Phillies are now 33-34 for the season. They are still 9.5 games behind the Mets, since the Mets lost tonight as well. But that does it really matter, the death rattle sounds have already started.
Maybe, just maybe, Phillies GM Pat Gillick will try and save the season, and fire Charlie Manuel early next week. If not, another baseball season in Philadelphia will be O-V-E-R.
