Born on March 29, 1894 in Georgetown, Texas, Dixie Leverett (Gorham Vance Leverett) played for the Chicago White Sox and Boston Braves over the course of his 5 year career. Leverett broke into the bigs on May 6, 1922 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 3.34 ERA in 223.2 innings pitched in 1922, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dixie Leverett's best season was 1922, when he posted a 3.34 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 60 batters.
