Born on November 19, 1956 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Dickie Noles (Dickie Ray Noles) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 11 year career. Noles broke into the bigs on July 5, 1979 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.80 ERA in 90 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dickie Noles's best season was 1982, when he posted a 4.42 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 85 batters.
