Dick Westmoreland (Richard Carl Westmoreland) was born on February 17, 1941 in Charlotte, North Carolina. After going to high school at Second Ward (Charlotte, NC), Westmoreland attended North Carolina A&T State University. Westmoreland made his professional debut in the AFL in 1963 with the San Diego Chargers. He played for the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1967 was Dick Westmoreland's best year, as he picked off 10 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
