Dick Werder (Richard Irving Werder) was born on July 31, 1922 in Buffalo, New York. After going to high school at Canisius Prep (Buffalo, NY), Werder attended Georgetown University. Werder made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1948 with the New York Yankees. He played for the New York Yankees for his entire 1 year career.
