Born on January 6, 1931 in Avon Lake, Ohio, Dick Tomanek (Richard Carl Tomanek) played for the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 5 year career. Tomanek broke into the bigs on September 25, 1953 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 5.68 ERA in 69.2 innings pitched in 1957, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Dick Tomanek's best season was 1958, when he posted a 4.50 ERA and struck out 92 batters.
