Dick Reichle

Dick Reichle (Richard Wendell Reichle) was born on November 23, 1896 in Lincoln, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on September 19, 1922 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1923, his rookie year, he hit .258 with 1 home run and 39 RBI. Reichle played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 2 year career.
Was the first visiting player to hit a HR in Yankee Stadium (off of Waite Hoyt). Was also one of the first two sport professional athletes playing for the Boston Red Sox of the MLB and Milwaukee Badgers of the NFL. Played collegiately with George Halas (Chicago Bears) when they both played end for the Great Lakes Naval Academy in the 1919 Rose Bowl.
