Dick Phelan (James Dickson Phelan) was born on December 10, 1854 in Towanda, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1884 for the Baltimore Unions. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .246 with 3 home runs and 0 RBI. Phelan played for the Baltimore Unions, St. Louis Maroons and Buffalo Bisons over the course of his 2 year career.
