Born on June 27, 1929 in Hickory, North Carolina, Dick Marlowe (Richard Burton Marlowe) played for the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 6 year career. Marlowe broke into the bigs on September 19, 1951 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 5.26 ERA in 119.2 innings pitched in 1953, his rookie year.
