Dick Johnston

Dick Johnston (Richard Frederick Johnston) was born on April 6, 1863 in Kingston, New York. He made his Major League debut on August 12, 1884 for the Richmond Virginias. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .281 with 2 home runs and 0 RBI. Johnston played for the Richmond Virginias, Boston Beaneaters, New York Giants, Boston Reds and Cincinnati Porkers over the course of his 8 year career.
There is some disagreement on what was Dick Johnston's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1888, when he stole 35 bases, hit for a .296 average and knocked in 68 runs. However, others believe that it was 1887, when he stole 52 bases and knocked in 77 runs.
