Dick Gernert

Dick Gernert (Richard Edward Gernert) was born on September 28, 1928 in Reading, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 16, 1952 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1952, his rookie year, he hit .243 with 19 home runs and 67 RBI. Gernert played for the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds and Houston Colt .45s over the course of his 11 year career.
Most people believe that Dick Gernert's best season was 1953, when he slugged 21 home runs and knocked in 71 runs.
