[edit] Biography

Born on December 7, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, Dick Donovan (Richard Edward Donovan) played for the Boston Braves, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 15 year career. Donovan broke into the bigs on April 24, 1950 with the Boston Braves, and put up a 3.32 ERA in 187 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Dick Donovan's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1962, when he posted a 3.59 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 94 batters. However, others believe that it was 1958, when he posted a 3.01 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 127 batters.
