Dick Christy (Richard Joseph Christy) was born on November 24, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at St. James (Chester, PA), Christy attended North Carolina State University. Christy made his professional debut in the NFL in 1958 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers the entire time. Christy also played in the AFL for 4 years, playing for the New York Titans, New York Jets and Boston Patriots over the course of his 4 year AFL career.
Most people believe that 1962 was Dick Christy's best year, as he ran for 535 yards, hauled in 62 receptions, had 538 receiving yards, ran back 2 punts for touchdowns and had 824 kick return yards.
