Dice-K in Paradise...

Boston Red Sox 1 -- Cleveland Indians 0

So last night would be one of the few times I just miss and don't report or follow a Red Sox game...why you ask? Well at age 29 I became a first time visitor to a Jimmy Buffett concert at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Nobelsville, Indiana (Northeast of Indianapolis). Now I must say it was absolutely incredible. It had a carnival/beach/musical way about it. Jimmy is an American Icon...and if you haven't seen a show go to one. Because it's really unique to see how he can bridge the gaps to over 40 different generations. Good times, Good times...

Now onto the Red Sox. Wasn't Dice-K unbelievable last night! Although I didn't watch it live (I rarely do anyways) he really pitched a good game and out dueled one of the MLB best pitchers. Dice-K continues to amaze me. I understand he makes a lot of money and some of you won't buy into this man quite yet. But he really is the real deal. A few points to support my claim...

Dice-K has a run support avg. that is pretty low for the team, Josh Beckett gets a 7.99 RS avg. and then Dice-K gets a 5.69. Those are big differences between the two at nearly 3 runs a game on average. I think a lot of people like to give him a hard time on walks to. But the reality is he has only walked 49 batters yeah a little high but not astronomical like every Boston media type try's to jam down our throats! Wakefield, Verlander, Batista are all in the 40 something category as well and they have done great jobs as starters. This number will surely go down as he adjusts to the Majors and the size of the baseball.

Dice-K doesn't need me or anyone else defending him he is a good ball player who probably puts more pressure on himself than anyone else could. He is a perfect fit for Boston and shoot he has already won 12 games not a lot of people thought he could get there! He may be 14-5 if a few games had gone a little better!

I say he at least gets 15-17 wins and I think for anyone that's a good year, remember he is 26 and about to prime so we haven't even seen his best yet. The playoffs (if in) could really show us what he has as well. He really hasn't had a big situation yet to show other than the World Baseball Classic.

The game last night had another star as well, regardless of how it shook out Mike Lowell continues to do damage teams with the R.B.I's. ENOUGH ALREADY (Yes you Theo) get this man signed and keep him in a Red Sox uniform. Not only is he a good ball player but he is a positive clubhouse presence which is vital to a team nowadays. And sometimes those things need to count for something.

Looking to tonight I see a great pitchers duel coming! This could be fun and don't forget the return of Papi! Which I am sure puts Manny right in the middle of another HUGE night! The offense may have been quiet but they still had six hits last night.

A lot of talk on how the Yanks have had a great run and are a vaunted offense once again. True there winning, but that offense better hit the likes of the great pitching staffs of K.C. and Tampa Bay. How about the Red Sox winning against a good team with good pitchers and keeping stride with anything the Yank's do. It will all work itself out and you will see that NY is putting up one hell of a smoke screen.

Well thank you for your time... I appreciate all comments and reads of my blog...sorry this one is out late, but who could turn down Jimmy!!

You're right about Dice K's run support; they've scored 2 runs or less in 9 of his last 11 starts. They're still 5-6 in those starts.
