Dexter Coakley (William Dexter Coakley) was born on October 20, 1972 in Charleston, South Carolina. After going to high school at Fork Union (VA) Military Academy and Wando (Mount Pleasant, SC), Coakley attended Appalachian State University. Coakley made his professional debut in the NFL in 1997 with the Dallas Cowboys. He has played for the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Rams over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that 1999 was Dexter Coakley's best year, as he picked off 4 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
